Senior Policy Analyst, Ministry of Health

Valerie Thompson is a Senior Policy Analyst at the Ministry of Health, working in Therapeutics Policy. She is involved in developing policy for new legislation to replace the Medicines Act 1981, including policy for clinical trials.

She has experience in developing legislation for medicines and medical devices through previous roles at Medsafe and the UK Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

She holds degrees in Genetics from the University of Otago and a Master of Biomedical Science from the Liggins Institute.
