Kate McGirr is a Manager at IQVIA with a special interest in advancing New Zealand's position in global clinical research. As the 2022 PharmaTimes International Clinical Researcher of the Year, Kate brings a unique blend of international expertise and local insight to clinical trial conduct.
 
With seven years of commercial trial experience across Scandinavia, and three years in New Zealand, Kate has cultivated strong relationships with sites and sponsors as well as deep expertise in digital technologies and decentralised clinical trials – including experience as a DCT platform project manager. Her Executive MBA research examined digital research capabilities and site networks across New Zealand's clinical trial landscape.​

Kate's academic foundation includes a Master's degree in Clinical Science and Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy. Her interest lies in supporting clinical trial growth in New Zealand while ensuring these opportunities support the principles of te ao Māori and advance health equity. This dual perspective—combining global clinical research trends with New Zealand's unique cultural and healthcare landscape—reflects her passion for enhancing New Zealand's role on the international clinical research stage while maintaining the country's commitment to inclusive, equitable healthcare solutions.
