Dr Helen Wihongi

National Māori Research Lead, Te Whatu Ora & Te Aka Whai Ora, NZ
Te Aitanga a Hauiti, Te Whanau a Āpanui, Ngati Porou, Ngā Puhi. BA, BASocSci, PhD, PGDipPracPsych(Comm)
​Helen is the National Māori Research Lead for Te Whatu Ora which is currently positioned in the Evidence, Research and Clinical Trials Team. As the Co-chair of Ira Tātai Whakaheke (Māori genomics forum) she chairs discussions between the Manatu Hauora Precision Medicine Stakeholder group and Ira Tātai Whakaheke. She has a background in Te Tiriti o Waitangi, health policy, funding and planning and research. Her primary research interest is mātauranga and tikanga Māori.
