Dr Simmon Hofstetter
Research Portfolio Manager, The University of Auckland

Dr Hofstetter is currently the University of Auckland’s Research Portfolio Manager, based in its Office of Research Strategy and Integrity.  Prior to this role, he was the Research Operations Manager for New Zealand’s High-Value Nutrition National Science Challenge which brought together industry and academia to pursue collaborative projects.  He has a background in microbiology and completed his PhD in Food Science and Technology at the University of Alberta, Canada.  His experience spans a broad range of applied research topics in areas of food and environmental microbiology and safe food production across the academic, private, and public sectors.  Before making the jump to New Zealand, he worked with a team to deliver a multi-million dollar research funding portfolio targeting issues in agricultural and livestock production.
